Småland Skriver – The Story of Handwriting

Personal, creative, important, cultural, historic and fun. Words people use when describing the art of writing by hand. Handwriting as a practice does have a lot of benefits—it independently trains our muscle memory, supports the creative identities we have as humans, strengthens our abilities to concentrate and works with developing especially children’s fine motor skills.

Through this installation I want to enlighten the fact that people still do appreciate handwriting even though technologies such as smartphones, tablets and computers are taking over. Therefore I am collecting and displaying handwritten notes by inhabitants of Småland that have given and are giving a lot of answers regarding the story of handwriting. The next chapter is up to you to write. By hand.
